Traveling to France and Portugal | Destination Photography
Our December Trip to Lisbon, Portugal + Paris, France
Months ago, I came across a deal for flights to Paris, France, so I texted my friend, Rachel, about the possibility of us taking a girls’ trip to the beautiful City of Lights together! She was immediately down for it, so the planning began right away! We booked our flights and hotel accommodations, and the countdown began! It seemed unreal to me for so long because Paris is a place I have wanted to travel to for so long. It didn’t quite hit me until a few days before our trip, and I eagerly packed my bags, put up my away message, and dreamt of the sights we would see once we arrived. I am absolutely going to be blogging on how entrepreneurs can actually enjoy being on vacation really soon, so stay tuned for that!
When we were booking our flights, we opted for an extended layover in Lisbon, Portugal. I’m talking like almost nine hours, so we thought we would totally be able to go out and explore the beautiful city before heading off to Paris! Well…what we were not aware of was the fact that the Portuguese airport lacks the manpower necessary to move hundreds of people through the customs line. We stood in that line for nearly four hours and as the time passed, our hopes for exploring Lisbon disappeared. Instead of getting a few hours to go around the city, we had just under an hour and a half. We went out for a bite to eat, took some pictures, and headed back to the airport to get ready for our next flight. Even though we were highly disappointed in the amount of time we were left with in Lisbon, what we saw was extraordinary. Y’all know I love pink….and Lisbon has PLENTY of gorgeous, blush pink buildings all around! I was amazed at the beautiful architecture and tile work. We wish we could have seen more, but I am so glad we saw what we saw while there! 🙂
This blog post will have a mixture of cell phone photos, as well as some professional photos. I took some of my gear with me, but I actually didn’t take as many photos with it as I anticipated. With the cold and wet weather, it was easier to whip out my phone for a quick snap!
There was an entire building with small, painted blue and white tiles. It was incredibly beautiful!
It was late when we arrived in Paris, but a couple of friends of ours happened to be in the city, getting ready to leave the next morning. We met them for a late night drink, and we loved hearing their stories from their time in Paris!
We loved the hotel we were staying at – the Crowne Plaza Paris-Republique! It was roomy, beautiful, and offered decent amenities! Plus, it was pretty centrally located, so we didn’t have to go too far for food or espresso!
We went to bed that night SO excited to wake up and explore Paris. Of course, we started each of our days off with espresso and something delicious to eat! I tried Croque Madame our first day, and it was INCREDIBLE! In fact, all of the food was incredible. I tried snails, duck, all the French wine, crepes, delicious desserts, and more. The food was probably my favorite part of the trip! I think my favorite restaurant was Frenchie; the food was unreal! So, if you go to Paris, make it a point to eat at Frenchie!
Getting to walk around Paris was super fun, albeit extremely chilly and windy. There is beautiful architecture everywhere, and we absolutely loved taking it all in!
We traveled to the beautiful area of Montmarte during our visit, and it was SUPER cute! There were pink buildings, stunning views, markets, and of course….incredible food.
Of course, we did the touristy things as well; we saw Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower, the Seine, the Arc de Triompe, the Louvre, Palais Royale, Laduree, Angelina, and more!
I was absolutely obsessed with these dark pink doors! If I lived in Paris, this would DEFINITELY be my home!
Hope you enjoyed this quick little recap of our trip to France and Portugal!
