Best of Bride and Groom Portraits | Best of 2017
Virginia and Maryland Wedding Photography
I am so excited to kick off one of my favorite blog series: the annual “Best of” series. Included in this blog series will be my favorite bride and groom portraits, my favorite details from the past year, a look at all of the gorgeous florals of 2017, and more! Get ready, because this time of year is one of my FAVORITES for the blog! The series will continue on through the end of year, so join me each week as I take a step back over the last 12 months to review and share some of the best moments! Not only do I love doing this series for the blog, but it is so fun to look back over the last year! I get the opportunity to relive my couples’ special days and memorable moments!
As I mentioned, I’m kicking off the series this week with the best of bride and groom portraits! This post will probably be the largest because bride and groom portraits are my FAVORITE part of the day, other than parent dances. I absolutely love watching my couples dance with their fathers and mothers on their wedding days; some of the most precious moments get captured during those dances! 🙂
I kicked off my wedding season with a romantic, mountainside elopement in my city of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. Jess and Adam drove all the way up here from Virginia Beach to tie the knot. It was the middle of March; snow was on the ground, and I was one of the only witnesses to see them become husband and wife. I can’t describe just how honored I was to be a part of that! You can see more of their special day on the blog HERE!
Alright, so this was a wedding inspiration shoot, but I only had one in 2017, so I’m going to include it here! 🙂 I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this couple and the team we worked with. This styled shoot was so much fun, and working at Tranquility Farm in Purcellville, VA is the best!
My next wedding of 2017 was actually an INTERNATIONAL one! If you remember from my 2017 goals blog post, I wrote about how photographing an international wedding was high on my goal list! In April, my friend Sarah and I traveled to the Caribbean island of St. John’s, Antigua & Barbuda to photograph Chelsea and Ivan’s wedding on the beach! What an adventure that was. I am so thankful that those two brought us along! You can see more of their beach wedding on the blog HERE!
This last one was actually their first kiss from the ceremony, but I loved it so much, I wanted to include it in this post! Their ceremony was incredibly beautiful. It happened during golden hour, on the GORGEOUS beach of Antigua…you could feel the love between the two of them. It was definitely one of my favorite ceremonies EVER! Not just from 2017, but from my entire career as a wedding photographer.
I still have to pinch myself when I look at these photos because it was such an honor for Chelsea to ask me to travel with them to photograph her and Ivan’s big day!
My next wedding happened on Derby Day at the beautiful Glenview Mansion in Rockville, Maryland. Grace and Ben are such a fun couple; this wedding was a blast! Even though it rained for quite a bit of the day, we made it work and they rocked out these portraits like no one’s business! Grace looked absolutely stunning in her Carolina Herrera dress…and I mean…would you look at those florals? Those babies will be highlighted again in my best Best of 2017 post because they are a true work of art!
I adored their wedding day portraits!
My next wedding took place in Warrenton, VA at the Black Horse Inn for Kathy and Jack’s big day! I just love this couple; they are so genuinely kind and loving. I can remember every bit of their day just like it happened yesterday, and I can’t help but have the biggest smile on my face when I see these images!
Ah these beautiful horses! I squealed when I placed Kathy and Jack right here and the horses came up to check things out!
Aw Gabby and Brian! These two had booked me well in advance, so I had a lot more time to get to know them better. Their special day was one I had been looking forward to for quite some time! I loved getting to capture their wedding day in Maryland!
That car! I loved that they wanted to incorporate this beauty into their portraits! It definitely made their images super unique! You can see more of their big day HERE!
My next wedding of the year was at Silverbrook Farm in Purcellville, VA. Silverbrook Farm is one of my favorite farm and rustic venues in the Northern Virginia area! I met Claudine and Marcus not too long before their big day, but we connected so quickly! Their wedding day was PERFECT, and so gorgeous! Check out their wedding day ON THE BLOG!
Gah that gorgeous light!!!!
Claudine was wearing this beautiful, long train. I was SO happy when I saw it because I know we had to get into the fields of tall grass for an epic wedding veil shot!
I love this image because it really kind of sums up these two when they’re together! Marcus is a jokester and always making Claudine laugh and smile!
My next wedding of the year took place at the absolutely stunning Evergreen Museum and Library in Baltimore, MD. Kate and Travis’ wedding is one of my favorites ever! It was recently featured with Love Inc. magazine! You can see more of their big day right here on the blog, too!
Once we reached July, my wedding season slowed down a bunch! The majority of my 2017 weddings took place in the first half of the year, and boy was it a crazy few months for a while there!
In July, Jen and Justin, tied the knot in Purcellville, VA at Shadow Creek.
My next wedding of the year was at Rust Manor House in Leesburg, Virginia for Kitty and Greg! Many of Kitty’s family and friends flew all the way from Germany to attend their wedding. There were special German and Hungarian traditions incorporated into their day, so that was really fun to see that! You can see some of those in their full wedding blog post!
This first image is actually from their first look, but I loved it so much because there was so much emotion! Kitty was so excited to see Greg that day, and this moment was just so special, I knew I had to include it!
My second to last wedding of 2017 was Dawn and Kyle’s big day at Murray Hill Estate in Leesburg, VA!
I loved Dawn and Kyle’s first look! Kyle was SO EXCITED to see her!
This is my favorite portrait of Dawn; she looks so stunning!
These two were laughing and smiling all day long; such an incredible couple to work with!
My last wedding of the year was just last month! Jess and Eric tied the knot at the Briar Patch Inn Bed and Breakfast in Middleburg, Virginia. Their day was amazing…filled with laughter, fun, sweet moments, and a whole lotta love!
