Stone Tower Winery Wedding in Leesburg, Virginia with Chinoiserie
Erica + Thorne
Erica and Thorne tied the knot at the beautiful vineyard, Stone Tower Winery in Leesburg, Virginia this past September, overlooking the vines of Loudoun County wine country and the beautiful mountains of VA. These two met nearly nine years ago while attending Virginia Tech (yep, they are die-hard Hokie fans!) and now live together in New York City. Thorne proposed to Erica last summer while they were visiting his family in California. It was extremely early in the morning; they had begun their traditional sunrise hike when Thorne got down on one knee as the sun peeked out behind the clouds.
Expertly planned by Cheers Darling Events, lush florals from Floral and Bloom, all the chinoiserie your heart desires, a gorgeous designer gown from none other than Kleinfeld Bridal, and a stellar group of bridesmaids and groomsmen….this wedding is surely a wedding that will never, ever be forgotten!
I had the extreme honor of photographing this beautiful day alongside my pal, Corrin. The bride, Erica, is the sister of one of our very best friends, Brett. I was completely taken aback and so extremely honored when Brett asked me if I was available and would be interested in photographing her little sister’s special day! OF COURSE I would!!!!!
Before Erica and Thorne’s first look, Erica wanted to do a father-daughter first look with her dad. Now, what I did not expect was how incredibly EMOTIONAL it was going to be. Phil was just in tears over seeing his little girl as a bride for the first time. Erica looked absolutely beautiful, and I don’t think until the moment he saw her in her wedding gown that it had fully hit him that his daughter was about to become a wife.
Their wedding came less than two months after I lost my father, so as you can imagine, her dad and her were not the only emotional ones. Come to think of it, every single one of us (Corrin, the amazing videography team – Joshua Bryan Cinema, and probably all of the girls watching from the windows of the getting ready cottage!) were crying! It was a truly beautiful moment, and I so loved being there to capture it for them to remember forever.
Her father surprised us all AGAIN later on with the most amazing hand-written speech/rap that he shared during the toasts’ portion of the reception. I mean, this entire experience was just incredible. He had Erica, Thorne, and all of their guests doubled over in laughter! It was just awesome! See their wedding film HERE!
The wedding ended with the most incredible party; people were dancing the night away, and then they all headed outside and lit up Erica and Thorne’s pathway with sparklers as the happy couple exited and said goodnight to all of their loved ones!
Erica and Thorne, I can’t thank you both enough for having me be a part of such an incredibly special day! It was AMAZING…really, amazing isn’t even quite the word for it, because it simply does not describe the day well enough. It just doesn’t do it proper justice! I love you both; I hope your lives together continue to be filled with love, joy, happiness, laughter, good times, and strength!
